The Perfect Focal Point
Do you have a big wall or space with nothing on it? Overwhelmed with where to even start decorating it? This DIY Glass Window is your perfect starting point! I love this look because it’s a little bit rustic and a little bit modern! I call this the focal point of my basement because it really draws your eye in and truly is the focal point when you walk into the room. The size alone demands your guests attention and creates an inviting, modern space to socialize. I found this window pane on an online rummage site. You can also find these in all shapes and sizes at thrift or vintage stores. They are easier to find then you think! If you’re local to Sioux Falls, ‘Feels Like Home’ on Minnesota Avenue has these and so many pieces similar! The wreath is from Hobby Lobby and came plain. There have all sorts of plain wreathes for you to choose from! The rest of the additions are all from Hobby Lobby as well!
What you’ll need:
- Glass window pane
- Wreath
- Spool of canvas/lace/hemp material
- Hemp flowers
- Hot glue gun
- Hammer & Nails
Directions: Place your window pane flat on the floor. Plug in your glue gun (these are under $10 at Hobby Lobby and so useful for other DIY projects). Start by grabbing your hemp flowers (these are in the craft aisle and there are other options to suit to your style). Glue them to one side of the wreath. You can choose however many you like… I wanted to keep it pretty simple, so this is just what I chose. Cut two feed off of your spool (you can cut off any excess, rather too much than too little and have to waste). Wrap around the top of your wreath, securing the two ends together with your hot glue gun. The bigger the loop, the lower the wreath will hang against the window pane. Then, secure the tie to the window pane with the hot glue gun to the back of your tie. I was pretty generous on the glue, because your wreath has a little weight to it. Wait for everything to dry before hanging. Then, you’re all set to hang wherever you wish! If your window is like mine, it has some weight to it, so just make sure to secure to the wall accordingly! Enjoy 🙂
