It’s crazy how much there is to plan, especially right from the get-go! Spencer has been so involved (and wanting to do so) in all of the big decisions; venue, church, colors, photographer… It’s been great to do this together and I would say easier, so we can communicate our thoughts in-person and move to the next. We started planning all of this and tag-teaming and delegating with each other. We ended up partnering with a local wedding planner, Loghin Welch with Serendipitous Events in Sioux Falls! We’ve known Loghin for a few years as she actually was a tenant of Spencer’s when he owned a rental property. Spencer met with Loghin while I was at work one day and messaged me shortly after the meeting that we now had a wedding planner! Honestly you guys, I am SO SO SO thankful we partnered with her! For someone like me, especially, who does not really enjoy the thought of planning all of this, partnering with a wedding planner has been such a huge help already! Moving forward, if you hear/see me mention Loghin, she’s our gal 🙂
I have to admit though… this hasn’t been the smoothest sailing so far. We have run into some date hiccups… either the photographer we want is booked and the venue we want is open, or visa-versa. You have to have so many big vendors all booked in order to fully say, “we have a date set.” We should know with certainty by the end of the week, though! Having a wedding planner who knows all of the contacts cuts down the turnaround time for communicating with vendors drastically! We have a date in mind and are working on booking all big vendors currently. With the holiday, the communication hasn’t been quick so we’re still walking a thin line with all of the vendors being available on our date. I ordered my bridesmaids gifts over a week ago and they are arriving this week! I can’t wait to give and send them to my wedding party. These girls are seriously the absolute best and have been my constants in my life. I will show you the gifts after they have all received them but I will tell you the best place to find personalized bridesmaids gifts is on Etsy!
I have also chosen Azazie for my bridesmaid dresses! I have used them before on two different occasions for weddings I was in and honestly, it’s so slick! The dresses are made to order and sized according to specific measurements! The bride can create a showroom of dresses and add her bridal party to view the showroom. This is particularly helpful if you are doing a variety of dresses for your bridal party. So far I have created my showroom, narrowed down the dresses I like and ordered two swatches to help me decide on the color. I HIGHLY recommend ordering swatches as colors can look so different on a screen. If you sign up for their emails, you get a coupon code for a free swatch!
Spencer and I have started working on our guest lists. Don’t forget to ask your parents about who they wish to invite (family friends, boss, etc). I have also reached out to a local company for creating our Save The Dates (I LOVE SUPPORTING LOCAL!) My sister and I have a Pinterest board for wedding inspiration. Again, this works so slick because we were able to invite Loghin to the board so she can start to visualize what I would like for the big day! Pinterest is such a great resource… so many ideas and styles!
