3 Months Away!
Starting this off by apologizing for the long-awaited Wednesday Wedding Update post! As I said in my IG stories, for a while there I had something to share weekly! There’s so much on the front end to tackle! But then, we went into a slow-down where it was too early to do a lot of the next-steps! But now… oh boy! We’ll be kicking things up a notch real quickly!
Wedding dress: I’ve picked up and had one alteration so far. I’ll be picking up my dress for (final) this Friday. To this appointment, make sure to bring your wedding shoes or a heel that you’re comfortable in (like I did) to get the appropriate length. You may want to bring your veil, headpiece and bra as well. I will not be doing a veil… I just decided it’s not my style and didn’t felt I needed it. I’m still working on the headpiece. The bra, I ended up having my seamstress sew cups in, that way I don’t have to worry about a bra! I’m thinking of storing it at my moms, just so I and Spencer don’t get tempted to look at it and it stays away from my little guys hands!
Bridesmaids: I searched high and low for a heel that would work for them all to match! I wanted them to be comfortable, affordable and come in a size run…. it is not easy! I looked for at least an hour! I decided on these ones! They have over 500 5 star reviews and are only $32! If you find a shoe, have them buy ASAP! I just looked at the shoes we ordered and now there’s 4 sizes gone! So glad we got them when we did!
I don’t want to give too much away on bridesmaids gifts… but, there are some things to consider! If you go the jewelry route… make sure they all have pierced ears! If you are doing different style dresses and there are some with a high neck-line, I wouldn’t gift a necklace. If you’re thinking of jewelry, make sure they don’t clank together or make noise that may be distracting during the ceremony and reception. Head to ETSY to find a million ideas!
Groomsmen: It’s cheaper to buy then to rent if you’re going the suit option. A lot of places have a package/set that includes the jacket, pants, button-up, tie and pocket square. We went to Halberstadt’s/JH & Sons and they have 3 price-point package options. It just all depended on the shade of the grey we liked. All groomsen need to be fitted no later than 3 months prior to the wedding. For guys, this is huge to keep reminding them! They love to put things off! I ordered all of the men in the wedding their tie and pocket-square in the same order with the bridemaid dresses! It’s my gift to the guys and it ensured that all of the colors would match up! Spencer will be wearing a different color tie and pocket square then anyone else. He’s so special 😉
Invites: I’m ALL ABOUT cutting costs at this point! This step and task can get spendy REALLY quick! We wanted to have these out in between 2-3 months in advance. So, we’ll send them out middle of June! I’m using the same graphic design contact I used for my saves dates, Molly Kruetzfeld. If you can find someone local who has done them before and send them to a printing company… this works so slick! In order to save money, I’m only putting two inserts in the invite, the RSVP and the formal invite/details front and back on one piece. Just changing to front and back saves you one full sheet and for us, that’s 154 less pieces of paper we don’t have to order! I honestly didn’t even want a wedding website. I have enough computer and screen time I do not want another website to maintain! Also, I have some adorable old-school family members that cannot RSVP via the website so I didn’t want to make that process daunting or difficult for them.
So… because I’m a freak, and for privacy reasons, I don’t want to share our exact invites. BUT– I will share the RSVP portion and the inspo from pinterest for how we worded the invite card!
We simplified the first line to: Together with their families. We also added our middle names. Then, invite you to celebrate their marriage, under our names. The rest is exactly the same!
Here’s the RSVP, front and back and of course we’ll include the postcard postage. You can also see the simple and clean design we went with.
Decor: Try to find anything used you can!!! Head to Facebook and join, if you haven’t already, any online rummage groups. In the upper left corner there’s a search bar and just start searching for items you need for decor. Also, if you have family or friends on FB in other cities, tell them to do the same for you! My MOH has been hitting the jackpot and she lives in a WAY smaller city then I do! Things will slowly start rolling in for a much more palatable cost! Also utilize your crafty friends and Pinterest! My friend Rachael makes wooden signs so I’m having her make our Welcome sign that we’ll put on an easel. I’ll follow up with images of decor when I get them all organized and sorted soon!
I promise to do these updates more often now that we’re getting so close! To view my last update, click here! Stay tuned!!
