Excuse me while I grab the tissues in preparation for this post! I mean seriously… everything that everyone said is REAL! “It goes by so fast…! You wake up so sad! Don’t wish for it to be over! You’ll never get that experience again! You’ll never get that same group of people together again! All the things! Looking back on the day, as a whole, it was absolutely beautiful! Simply amazing! We received so many compliments about different aspects of the day and many saying, ‘best wedding they’d been to!’ Sorry… had to brag! But I wanted to round up our day with some links, some possible changes, things not many think of…. etc!

Wedding Dress; After the Party
After the party is done, don’t forget about your precious dress! The longer you wait to clean your dress, the more the stains from your wedding day will set in! Our wedding was on a Saturday and I brought my wedding dress to the dry cleaners that following Monday! I ended up getting my dress dry cleaned and preserved! This is where they use a special treatment and return the dress in a box! Our dry cleaners ended up sending my dress to Minneapolis to get this done. I hope to some day use my dress or pieces for either my daughter (if we have one) or my son’s wife/daughter, etc!
Things to Remember:
1. Don’t forget to count yourselves in your food count! It sounds funny that you would forget the bride and groom in the food but we did until our final meeting!
2. Make sure to discuss eating with your vendors to see if they want to eat or not. By vendors, I mean your photographer, videographer, wedding planner, anyone special who is helping with the wedding.
3. Itinerary’s for everyone! It gave me such piece of mind knowing that everyone know where to be and when to be there. I gave itineraries to; the wedding party, parents, grandparents, anyone involved in the wedding (cake, host/hostess, pastors) and relatives traveling from afar.
4. Have a food plan lined up for after pictures and before the ceremony! You’ll be hungry and there will be some down time for everyone. We did chips, sandwiches and bottled water.
5. Shortly after the reception starts you’ll want someone to grab your cards and gifts. They could bring them to a car or have someone take them to a hotel room. Our wedding planner brought them up to our hotel room for us.
Honeymoon?
We are planning on waiting until the dead of Winter to go on a honeymoon! Everyone has their own opinions on this but I’m SO GLAD we decided on this. Right after our wedding day, our son got Croup and then Hand Foot & Mouth! While he was going through that, I ruptured my ear drum and had such bad sinus pressure! So, if we would have gone on our honeymoon right away, my poor mom would have had to go through all our son’s sickness and I would have been on a beach with a draining ear, not hearing much and not near a hospital to start antibiotic drops! I had a bunch of ladies reach out in stories saying they themselves or a friend got sick post-wedding too! Just some food for thought! We will be going to a spot in Mexico!
One thing we would change…
We would have planned on less meals for the dinner. We did plated meals and ordered two more adults and two more kids meals just in case someone brought a plus one or a child. WRONG!!! Someone will get sick, someone will forget or someone will decide to make it a parents night out. We could have honestly saved a good thousand dollars with those that didn’t end up coming that RSVP’d.
HAVE FUN!!!!! Everyone’s advice they give you is 100% accurate! The day goes by SO fast and you’ll be sad when it’s over! Don’t stress or sweat the small stuff! No one will know if anything goes wrong but you! The details are beautiful but remember the reason for it all! You and your spouse, committing to each other together forever before God! That’s the most important thing that matters!
